Air Show - Sat. 8-23

This Saturday we went to the air show with my parents. It was really cool (not literally, because we just about spontaneously combusted in the heat!). We have been hearing it and watching it from a far for as long as we have lived in this house. We live only about a mile from the Mount Comfort airport where it all takes place. When we got there, the boys played in some of the inflatable things, and Brannon did this really cool jumping thing (pictures and video to follow). Then we made our way to the tent to eat and watched the show from the front row. At first, the boys were terrified of the loud fighter jets and cried to go home. Thank goodness the fighter jet part didn't last too long, and they enjoyed the rest of the planes. The day was blistering hot, but thank goodness there was an occasional breeze. When the day was over, we came home and collapsed!

This is how Brannon and Alex "watched" the fighter jet part of the show. Notice the look on Brannon's face and the sweat on Alex. And no, Shawn is not about to pass out. ;)

After we watched the air show for about an hour, and all the really cool stuff was over, we walked around and looked at all the cool planes and helicopters. We were allowed to sit in a lot of them too. :) It was so funny to look at all of these huge planes, and see people sitting under every part of them that created a little bit of shade.

After we walked around, we went back to the inflatable jumping things. It struck me, as I was watching the boys wait in line, that they have finally gotten old enough (and patient enough) to wait in a line without loosing their minds. What a wonderful milestone to reach!!! It was also so cute to watch them stand in line hugging on each other. :)

And now we are on our way home! It was so weird how they had us leave the airport area. We had to drive down this one lane dirt "road" through the corn field. It was kind of "Children of the Cornish". When we got home, our faces were all SO blistered from looking straight into the sun at the planes. And of course, none of us thought to wear any sunscreen. :\
